The Wolfson Center for Plant Genomics and Biotechnology in
Semi-Arid Climates
The Wolfson Center for Plant Genomics and Biotechnology in
Semi-Arid Climates was established in
2002 by the Wolfson Family Charitable Trust.
The major
objective of the Wolfson Center is to develop crop plants that are
adapted to stress conditions such as
extreme temperatures,drought and
salinity.
The equipment provided by the Wolfson Center
provides all members of the Robert H. Smith Institute for Plant Sciences
and Genetics in Agriculture with the state-of-the-art ability to exploit
the wealth of plant natural variation, and to be engaged in the ongoing
worldwide revolution in plant genomics and proteomics, to identify
solutions to agricultural problems and to develop crop plants which are
more tolerant to abiotic stress.
