
About the Department
We are the only university department in Israel that focuses on teaching and research in areas related to agricultural economics, agribusiness, agritourism, natural resources, and the environment. Our flexible teaching program is geared to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, who are awarded performance-linked scholarships and may be additionally employed as research and teaching assistants. The research activities are organized within the Center for Agricultural Economic Research.
The Department’s teaching and research cover the following areas:

- Rural economics, including agritourism and hotel management
- Agricultural policy in Israel and other countries
- Economy and agriculture in developing countries
- Agricultural productivity in developed countries
- Agricultural and food marketing
- Economics of natural resources and the environment
- Water economics
- Economics of cooperatives
- Agricultural reforms in former socialist countries in transition
- Political economy and public economics
- Rural household economics
- Corporate finance and financial markets in agriculture
Our graduates in economics and management hold key positions in agriculture, in industrial and commercial corporations, in banks and investment companies, in private consulting firms, and in public service.
