M.Sc. in Plant Sciences - Program Outline
Framework
The M.Sc. framework is intended for holders of a B.Sc. in agriculture, biology or related fields. Students completing the program attain an M.Sc. Agri. degree with specialization in one of the following tracks in plant sciences:
- Horticulture
- Field and Vegetable Crops
This intensive program requires the completion of 46 study credits, including a research exercise, in 3 consecutive semesters (12 months).
Research exercise
The research exercise trains the student to work independently, yet under the supervision of a mentor, investigating a well-defined topic. Students' interests are taken into consideration during the process of mentor selection. By the end of the first semester of studies, a work-plan approved by the mentor is submitted, defining the topic of the exercise, the methods to be employed and a schedule for its completion. The exercise itself is conducted primarily during the second and third semesters. It is submitted in written form (approximately 30 pages) and presented at a final seminar.
Thesis option
Under certain conditions, upon successful completion of the international M.Sc. program, students may be able to transfer to the thesis stream of studies for an additional period, during which an M.Sc. thesis is written. In some such cases, the research exercise becomes the basis for the full thesis.
